Mount Tinguelin, located about ten kilometers north of Garoua in northern Cameroon, is a sandstone plateau rising to approximately 710 meters above sea level. Easily accessible by car, it offers a moderately challenging hike lasting around 2 to 3 hours round-trip — ideal for a half-day excursion. The trail winds through semi-arid vegetation, including wild fig trees, baobabs, and thorny bushes, and leads to a summit with breathtaking panoramic views over the plains and the Garoua area. There are no facilities on-site, so it’s recommended to bring water, snacks, a hat, and sturdy footwear. The area is also home to the Fali community, adding cultural interest to the experience. This hike is perfect for nature lovers seeking calm, scenic, and authentic landscapes.
