Founded in 1949, the National School of Water and Forests is located 48 kilometers from Yaoundé. It trains experts in water and forest resource management. This institution serves as a gateway to Cameroon’s lush forests, which are considered the world’s second lungs after the Amazon forest.
This guided tour of Cameroon’s forests offers a two-phase experience led by experts:
Tree Laboratory: Begin in a curated area showcasing tree species from around the world. Learn how these trees are studied and used for conservation efforts.
Into the Wild: Explore pristine nature with towering natural trees. Discover rare and protected species and understand their crucial role in maintaining Earth’s ecosystems.
Next, continue the adventure with a boat cruise on the Nyong River to the Fertility Tree, a place rich in mystery and spirituality. You’ll learn about the cultural significance of this tree while enjoying the surrounding natural beauty. After this exploration, a local lunch will be served at the Ebogo site, giving you the opportunity to taste traditional Cameroonian cuisine. The day will end with your return to Yaoundé.
