Built on an area of 5,000 m², the National Museum of Cameroon features around thirty fully equipped rooms. Among the many exhibits are cultural symbols of Cameroon, including traditional masks, musical instruments, and clothing representing the ten regions of the country. Visitors can also admire the Polyptych—a giant collaborative canvas created by several African artists—as well as national emblems such as the coat of arms, national flag, and anthem.
The museum also hosts photographic catalogs highlighting the last 50 years of Cameroon’s history, maps showing the country’s territorial evolution, copies of the constitution, archaeological discoveries, and portraits of nationalists, athletes, musicians, and other influential figures who have shaped the nation’s political and cultural journey since independence.
The visit will take place in the evening, offering a refreshing and unique experience compared to daytime tours. The atmosphere at that time of day is particularly pleasant, allowing visitors to discover the site from a different and more serene perspective.
