Overview

Located in the department of Noun, 40 minutes from the town of Bafoussam, Mount Mbapit is a crater lake visible at the top of the mountain. You will be warmly welcomed by your guide in Bafoussam who will drive you to the village Koupa via the commune of Foumbot where you will start the activity. From the Koupa village, a peaceful walk of about 45 minutes to reach the heights of the lake will allow you to appreciate the beautiful picturesque landscapes. Once up there, the view is majestic, the circular lake occupies the bottom of the crater and the legend says that a stone thrown cannot touch the surface of the lake. In the same vein, you can walk around the crater to further enjoy the splendour of the beautiful landscape and visit the Bororo villages.

Our plane arrived late and it was raining so we unfortunately couldn’t hike around the crater. A few comments: we had asked for an English-speaking guide but our guide, although very nice, didn’t speak much english. Also it would have been nice to get a more informative tour (e.g: how the crater appeared, the circonference of the crater, the history of the Bororo villages…).
