Overview

Mount Tinguelin, located about ten kilometers north of Garoua in northern Cameroon, is a sandstone plateau rising to approximately 710 meters above sea level. Easily accessible by car, it offers a moderately challenging hike lasting around 2 to 3 hours round-trip — ideal for a half-day excursion. The trail winds through semi-arid vegetation, including wild fig trees, baobabs, and thorny bushes, and leads to a summit with breathtaking panoramic views over the plains and the Garoua area. There are no facilities on-site, so it’s recommended to bring water, snacks, a hat, and sturdy footwear. The area is also home to the Fali community, adding cultural interest to the experience.
