Overview

The chimpanzee sanctuary of pongo songo is located in the heart of the Douala Edea natural park. You can visit it and admire chimpanzees up close, rehabilitated in freedom and protected islands. Unfortunately for safety, security and health reasons, direct contact with the primates is no longer accepted. This activitygives you only access to the reserve to visit the protected chimpanzees. By booking this activity, you should be able to get to the departure point on time by your own means. Visits are possible on Wednesdays, saturdays and sundays only.

FAQs

We accept a minimum of 2 participants for the tour. If you are alone, you can still book an access fees for 2 for the visit of the islands

You can drive easily from douala to Marienberg. You can also contact tourism agencies in Douala can easily organise the tour for you. Roads are not that good during the rainy season and access might be quite complicated. Upon arrival at the marienberg church our guide will pick you up from there.

This entry ticket does not include the visit of marieberg church. We expect all participants to be at the pick up point next to the church at exaclty 9am. If you are driving to get here, please ensure you plan ahead. Primates have to be fed ontime in order not to disrupt their routine.

Yes you can come with your kids. From 12 and below, entry fees are free and you do not have to pay. however, in addition to entry fees, you will have to pay an extra fees for transportation fuel.
