Located in the Noun department, 40 minutes from the town of Bafoussam, Mount Mbapit is a crater lake visible from the top of the mountain. You’ll be warmly welcomed by your guide in Bafoussam, who will take you to the village of Koupa via the commune of Foumbot, where you’ll begin the activity. From the village of Koupa, a leisurely 45-minute walk to the heights of the lake will allow you to appreciate the beautiful, picturesque scenery. Once up there, the view is majestic, the circular lake occupies the bottom of the crater and legend has it that a stone thrown cannot touch the surface of the lake. In the same vein, you can walk around the crater to take in more of the splendour of the magnificent landscape and visit the Bororo villages around the lake. After descending Mount Mbapit, we’ll continue on to Foumban, where we’ll visit the museum and palace of the Bamoun kings, the market, the craftsmen’s and bronze founders’ workshop and the craft galleries. Friday is a day of prayer, so you’ll have the chance to attend the fantasia on the way out in honor of the Sultan (only if the Sultan is present).
