Overview

Your day will begin with a guided visit to the Youpwé fish market, led by a local guide who will introduce you to the daily life of the fishermen, traditional fish processing techniques, and the vibrant atmosphere of this authentic riverside market. You will experience the lively morning activities as boats arrive with fresh catches and vendors prepare fish for sale and smoking.

After the market visit, you will embark on one of the best canoe trips in the city of Douala. Boarding a motorized pirogue in Youpwé, you will begin navigating along the Wouri River. During the journey, you will learn more about the Douala seaport, the history of the city and the Wouri River, as well as the surrounding mangroves and their ecological importance.

The adventure will continue with a visit to a village exclusively inhabited by Nigerians from the Ijaw people. There, you will meet the village chief, discover this unique community built on water, and enjoy a delicious local lunch before heading back to Douala.
