1. Ekom Nkam Waterfalls

Ekom Nkam is the latter. Long before you reach the waterfall, you can hear its power through the forest. Then suddenly, there it is: an enormous curtain of water surrounded by dense vegetation. Stand there for a few minutes and you’ll understand why we couldn’t imagine this list of 7 Natural Wonders of Cameroon without it.

2. Lake Mbapit

“Sometimes, the reward is waiting at the top.”

You climb, you turn around, and there it is: Lake Mbapit, sitting quietly inside an ancient volcanic crater. The contrast between the steep crater walls, surrounding farmland and still water makes this one of those landscapes that photographs simply don’t fully explain.

3. Manengouba Twin Lakes

“Two lakes. One mountain. A landscape unlike anywhere else.”

High in the Manengouba Mountains lie two crater lakes side by side, traditionally known as the Male and Female Lakes. But getting there is part of the wonder: mountain landscapes, changing vegetation and sweeping views gradually lead you towards one of Cameroon’s most fascinating volcanic sites.

4. Rhumsiki Landscape

Then Cameroon changes completely. In Rhumsiki, enormous volcanic formations rise from the Mandara Mountains, creating an almost otherworldly landscape. Come early or stay until sunset, when the changing light transforms the rocks and valleys into something even more dramatic.

5. Sanaga Gorges

The Sanaga is already one of Cameroon’s great rivers. But at the gorges, you experience it differently. Water forces its way between enormous rocks, creating powerful currents, natural pools and a raw landscape shaped continuously by the river.

This isn’t simply a place to look at. It’s a place to stop, listen and watch nature at work.

6. Kola Gorges

From above, you might not immediately understand what is hiding here. Then you descend. Narrow passages open between enormous sculpted rock walls, revealing shapes carved naturally over thousands of years. Walking through the Kola Gorges feels less like visiting an attraction and more like entering a natural labyrinth.

7. Lake Ossa

Lake Ossa earns its place differently. Here, the magic is silence. Glide across the water in a traditional canoe, pass small islands and fishing communities, watch birds overhead and discover one of Cameroon’s remarkable wetland ecosystems—also known for its population of African manatees.

It’s the quietest wonder on our list, and perhaps one of the easiest to underestimate.
